Weekends and celebrations without setbacks
Barbecues, birthdays, drinks and nibbles: how to enjoy the weekend without feeling on Monday that you're starting from zero.
The weekend is part of it
Celebrations, get-togethers and good food are an important part of life. A nutrition plan that doesn't allow for them won't last long.
Don't arrive starving
If you barely eat during the day to 'save up' for the evening, you'll tuck in all the more later. Normal meals throughout the day are the better preparation.
At the buffet or barbecue
- Put vegetables and salad on your plate first
- Choose a source of protein you really like
- Pick the rest deliberately, rather than a bit of everything
Keep an eye on alcohol
Alcohol provides a lot of calories and lowers your inhibitions around food. A glass of water between drinks helps.
The Monday after
No compensating, no fasting. Simply get back to your normal rhythm. One weekend doesn't decide your progress.
My tip
Before the celebration, think about what you're looking forward to most, and enjoy exactly that without feeling guilty.
